Our local fundraiser this year was a succesful and fun event, with oustanding support and attendance we raised over $7,000. With great thanks to the Harbor House and First National Bank located here in Half Moon Bay our fundraiser was a sucess. Many of the outstanding individuals and local business contributed to the items for auction and attendance.
The event in 2007 raised over $21,000 locally and the total for Coldwell Banker Northern California raised over $250,000 for Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing ministry seeking to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
Habitat for Humanity has built more than 200,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1,000,000 people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter.
Habitat for Humanity houses are purchased by the homeowner families. Three factors make Habitat houses affordable to low-income people worldwide. I had the opportunity to volunteer at a local Habitat for Humanity build. It was an enriching experience, I met some great individuals and learned how to handle a jack hammer!
The Coldwell Banker sponsored Habitat for Humanity fund raiser was held at the Long Branch Saloon in 2007. This year entertainment and fantastic food worked together with Coldwell Banker to raise well over the 2006 total.
The Habitat for Humanity live and silent Auction held at the Harbor House along with the raffle tickets sold by Coldwell Banker Half Moon Bay totaled over $14,000 to give directly to Habitat for Humanity in 2006.
All monies raised through fundraising efforts will be donated directly to Habitat for Humanity.
The ultimate goal is to raise enough money to build a Coldwell Banker sponsored home in every Northern California region. The cost to build a home is approximately $50,000 – $150,000 (dependent on the area). Additional money will go towards materials needed to build the home
